TTLock vs Tuya: choosing a smart lock app ecosystem

Updated 2026-09-28 · JIAHOME export team

The lock hardware is often similar; the ecosystem decides what your customers can do with it — and what you can support after the container lands.

What an ecosystem provides

Both platforms supply the mobile app, the cloud service, the Bluetooth gateway for remote control and the management tools (e-permissions, temporary codes, access logs, hotel or apartment modes). The lock is the endpoint; the platform is the product your customer actually experiences every day.

TTLock

Widely used by lock manufacturers, with a familiar app for issuing e-keys, time-limited codes and access records, plus gateways for remote unlocking. Distributors like it because many models from different factories speak the same protocol, and there is a large base of installers who already know it.

Tuya

Part of a broad smart-home ecosystem, so locks can sit alongside lighting, sensors and cameras in one app. That integration is the selling point in retail markets where customers already own Tuya-based devices. In return, the platform is broader and less specialised, so some lock-specific features work differently between models.

What to verify before committing

Practical advice

Carry one ecosystem as your standard and treat the other as an option, so your support team only has to learn one set of failure modes. Whatever you choose, write the app name, gateway model and account ownership into the quotation — it prevents most after-sales arguments.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a gateway?

Only for remote control and for reading logs when nobody is at the door. Bluetooth-only operation works locally without one.

Can I have my own branded app?

Both platforms offer OEM arrangements through the manufacturer. Ask what is included, the minimum volume and who pays the annual platform fee.
